Knowing which types of SSL Certificates there are and which one to buy means the difference between approximately $50 dollars and several hunderd to several thousand dollars. The Turn Group offers one of each of the SSL Certificates listed below.

Domain Validated SSL (DV) Certificate

This certificate is the most commonly purchased certificate. It is used on websites that offers check out services on products and services/credit card processing or for forum, signup forms or secure site logins. This SSL Certificate is the cheapest to purchase and is issued immediately. This certificate validates the domain only and provides either a 128 or 256 bit encrypted two way communication between the website/server you are accessing and your browser. This certificates provides you a static site seal that you can use on your website. It does not provide dynamic site verification when clicked on.

Domain Validated SSL (DV) Mobile/Table Compatible Certificate

This SSL Certificate is the same as the above mentioned SSL with the added bonus of allowing for secure and encrypted transmission between your mobile phone and tablet and the website you are browsing. Not all (DV) SSL Certificates offer mobile and table support. It is important that you check for this type of compatibility before you purchase the certificate.

Organization Validated SSL (OV) Certificate

When security is important to you and you want your customers to really understand that when accessing your website their information is secure, this certificate adds a couple of little extra aspects to the browsing experience. For starters, when your customers click on the browser lock icon that shows on your secured pages; when clicked your company information is displayed. This tells them that your company is who you say you are.

This type of SSL Certificate also provides a dynamic site seal for placement on your website but takes a few days for certificate issuance. When clicked, your site users can see that you have an active and validated security certificate. Though this certificate costs more than a (DV) SSL, the liability coverage protection generally increases as well. To top it off, this SSL generally supports mobile and tablet devices.

The (OV) Certificate validates not only your domain but your business information so it will take a few days for issuance. You will have to provide documentation to show business ownership.

Extended Validated SSL (EV) Certificate

When visial assurance for your customers is important, this SSL certificate is the way to go. Not only does it provide all of the attributes of the (OV and DV) SSL Certificates, you get the added bonus of your users browser url bar changing to the color green. Depending on their browser, the entire bar may turn green or to the left of the url, the company name and browser lock icon will be green. Eitherway, your visitors will instantly know your website is secured with the highest level of protection.
