With
the growing concerns of Global Warming on the rise, we cant help but take
inventory of our personal lives as well as how we do business. As we become more
conscious of how damaging many of our current practices are, we realized that we
needed to step up and assess how we do things around here. Now more than ever we
see companies taking responsibility by "Going Green".
Here at The Turn Group, we have decided to play our part in making the world a better place by taking steps to becoming an environmentally friendly business.
As you know "Going Green" is a step by step process of evaluation and implementation. The overall benefits outweigh the costs of our current practices of doing business. As we push forward in our efforts to create a "waste free" business we learned two things. 1) the smallest efforts have big results and 2) creating a "Green Business" can be particularly satisfying as you get to make your own contribution to making the world a better place.
Here are the following green business ideas that we adhere to:
- Going forward we are replacing all of our old cleaning products with
"Eco-Friendly Products. From laundry to vehicles everything has to be
cleaned. We are working to reduce our water intake when cleaning and are
looking forward to the commercialization of "virtually waterless" technology
that is coming out.
- The production of electricity dumps over 2,500 million metric tons of
Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere a year. At The Turn Group, we have
replaced over 90% of our light bulbs with the new energy efficient versions.
Its also a known fact that even though appliances of any sort are turned off,
when plugged into an outlet they still trickle energy. Whenever we are
finished with a device, if at all possible we unplug the devices from the
outlets. To further reduce our costs, we try to use as much natural lights
as possible by keeping windows open and shades pulled back. This has
decreased our electric bill by hundreds of dollars a year.

Heating bills can be enormous. With our economy suffering as it is, now
more than ever we need a reduction of these costs. At The Turn Group, we
have reduced our heating bill considerably by dropping our normal heating
temperatures down a few degrees. Yes, we have jackets on sometimes but its
worth the overall benefits to the environment. - In the web world the majority of what we do is online. With that said, there are still those that print emails, send faxes and a ton of single sided printing. At The Turn Group, we have eliminated 99% of our paper faxing and have replaced it with online faxing. Emails are not printed unless its an absolute must and our printing has been reduced by 75%. Going forward we will be using printing paper with the maximum recycled content available as needed.
