Joomla 3.2 New UpdateUpdating your Joomla Website to the New Joomla 3.2 Update

From what we seen so far upgrading to Joomla 3.2.0 is more of a hassle than it is worth. Not to mention the extra development time and money it is going to take you to overcome some serious bugs. As of this writing 11-10-13 Joomla 3.2 has been out for about a week. So far it has been a nightmare. Listed below are just a few of the major bugs we have found so far.

  1. When updating your website, if you have Mijoshop installed (2.1.7 or below) this update can lock you out of the website. It most definitely locks you out of your Mijoshop component. We were able to find a temporary fix for the Joomla 3.2 and Mijoshop password lockout here.
  2. The next big problem we found is with your username. For example, we had a user name of Mark Jackson on one of our sites. If you have any software that has profiles such as JomSocial or Easyblog, basically any software that gives you a profile including Joomla itself, when you try to edit the profile you get an error such as "Please Select A Password With 55 Or Fewer Characters". This is because you are not allowed to have usernames that have spaces within them. Your only choice is to change your username to a one word character set with no spaces or characters. This is a huge problem with sites that have hundreds if not thousands of users on your site.
  3. The third problem we found is that if your site sends out any type of emails such as when you upload a new blog post, your site stops sending emails. We found a fix for the "Mail Function Has Been Temporarily Disabled problem here.

Needless to say, the Joomla 3.2.0 update is not suggested for live production websites until these bugs have been fixed or at least permanent solutions have been posted. We will keep you updated with more as we go. If you have found more bugs or more importantly fixes for those bugs, let us know below.
